The wearer's left sleeve still retains its original New York Guard insignia; however, its private rank insignia patches have since been removed. It features original brass buttons, bearing The Great Seal of the State of New York with the "EXCELSIOR" motto. The lining is inscribed "N. Y. G. 3". It is a size 38R

Runs much larger than I expected. I am 5’4”& 136 pounds. Usually wear a medium or large in some knit tops. So I need to stitch the side seams in hopes it will fit better. I like the weight and softness of the fabric, but really disappointed in the too large armholes. Unwearable for me until I can sew new side seams.
